UK food company Premier Foods has said two more of its products may have been affected by the contaminated chilli powder that sparked a massive recall last week.

On 18 February it emerged that Premier Foods’ Worcester sauce had been contaminated by chilli powder that contained the illegal dye Sudan I. The sauce had been used as an ingredient in a wide range of products, resulting in the UK’s biggest food recall.
The company said it has now identified two further products made by Premier that are affected – Branston Hot and Spicy Sweet Pickle (310g) and Branston Rich and
Fruity Sauce (250g).
“We are recalling these products at once as a precautionary measure and have notified the Food Standards Agency,” Premier Foods said.
Production of Branston Hot and Spicy Sweet Pickle ended in early 2004. Both products are retail products and were not supplied to the company’s food ingredients customers.
