Up to 300 jobs could be created at German dairy giant Müller after it was granted planning permission for an expansion at a UK factory.

The company applied to develop a manufacturing, storage and distribution facility opposite the current dairy plant at its site in Market Drayton, Shropshire, in March.

Expansion at Müller’s Market Drayton factory could result in new 300 jobs, following news that the firm has won full planning permission from Shropshire Council.

Seb Jones, director of Müller Dairy UK, said: “Whilst it should be stressed that the exact start date has still to be agreed, we are delighted to have been granted full planning permission for a new development by Müller Dairy in Market Drayton.”

In December, Müller announced it was set to cut 55 jobs. The yoghurt maker said it could not confirm in which facilities the job losses would be made, but Market Drayton is the company’s only production facility in the UK.
