UK baked goods company McCambridge Group is mulling the closure of its loss-making Thornton Road, Bradford bakery.
In a statement to staff at the bakery, McCambridge said that the site had racked up “considerable” losses “for some time”.
“We have now reached a situation where we need to re-evaluate the feasibility of continuing with the operation,” the company said.
A spokesperson for the group told just-food that McCambridge is looking to transfer some staff to another factory in an effort to mitigate job losses.
While the company has not yet come to a final decision over the closure, around 80 job losses are expected.
McCambridge said it has begun the mandatory consultation period with the Bakers Food and Allied Workers Union (BFAWU), but declined to comment further on the “regrettable” situation.
