UK retail industry think tank IGD today [Friday] announced the appointment of Tesco chairman David Reid as IGD president and Alastair Sykes, chairman & CEO of Nestlé UK, as IGD vice president.
Reid, supported by Sykes, will chair the Policy Issues Council, which is an industry leaders’ forum looking at the long-term challenges facing the industry. He said: “I have been involved with IGD as a member of the Policy Issues Council for 12 years, working with chairmen and CEOs from across the industry, identifying where we can make significant improvements to benefit shoppers.
“The work has focused on nutrition, crisis management, supporting British agriculture and improving supply chain efficiency. As president I look forward to directing future work in this and other critical areas of business. Given my overseas experience with Tesco, I also hope to help IGD broaden its international perspective.”
