Heinz today (11 August) announced it has completed the acquisition of Benedicta, a French manufacturer of table top sauces, mayonnaises and salad dressings.

On 2 July 2008, Heinz announced that it signed a letter of intent to acquire Benedicta.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“The acquisition of Benedicta fits perfectly into Heinz’s global strategy to focus its portfolio on three attractive core categories, ketchup and sauces, infant/nutrition and meals and snacks,” said Roel van Neerbos, president, Heinz Continental Europe. “Benedicta will strengthen Heinz’s sauces business in France and we have exciting plans for the business.”

Benedicta, which generates around US$90m in sales, produces sauces, including traditional mayonnaise and Bearnaise sauces, as well as modern dip and barbecue sauces.
