According to a report in the Guardian, a Morrisons board meeting broke up last night (24 May) having failed to come to an agreement on the appointment of the new CEO.
The newspaper said that the candidate proposed by the nominations committee should have been approved by the board’s pre-AGM meeting yesterday. This means that it is unlikely that a replacement for Bob Stott will be decided by tomorrow’s AGM, the deadline set by the company seven months ago.
It has been widely speculated that Marc Bolland of Heineken, Ian Meakins of Alliance UniChem and David Wild former-Tesco exec made it to the short-list.
When approached by just-food the company declined to comment on speculation.
