First Milk has announced further investments in its Haverfordwest Creamery in a bid to build capacity over the next two years.
The UK company is spending nearly GBP7m (US$11.4m) to build a new effluent treatment plant and install new boilers which burn natural gas. The move will reduce CO2 emissions by 3,500 tonnes a year, the company said.
First Milk added it is planning further investments in the site in 2014 and 2015, including increasing capacity to meet “growing demand” for cheese. As part of this investment drive, the group added it is recruiting new milk suppliers.
