Davison Canners, a UK-based maker of jams and compotes, has launched a dessert range after receiving financing from HSBC to upgrade its premises.
The family-run business, which started in 1974 and operates in food manufacturing, fruit growing and industrial warehousing, said today (13 November) that it got GBP3.1m (US$4.1m) in bank funding to renovate the site in County Armagh and invest in new equipment. All production will now be brought in house and 50 jobs will be created.
On the heels of the new line of shelf-ready desserts, the company has won contracts with “several high-profile” retailers including Booths in the north of England and Aldi stores across the UK and in Ireland.
Following the investment and expansion, turnover is expected to double to GBP10m in a year.
Joint managing director Alan Davison said the financing is a “great opportunity to add further value to our initial product range of fruit compotes, fillings, jams and sauces, giving us complete control of our products from primary processing through to marketing and point of sale retailing”.
He added that the company will explore “more opportunities for growth”.
