Ailing UK dairy co-operative Dairy Farmers of Britain is in talks to stave off administration, just-food understands.

Uncertainty surrounds the future of the co-operative and a source familiar with the situation has told just-food that a move into administration could be made in a matter of days.

The co-operative’s CFO, Mark Strickland, declined to comment when contacted by just-food today (3 June).

DFB, which is owned by over 2,000 farmer members, has been carrying out a review of the business as falling dairy commodity prices have hit profits.

Two weeks ago, the co-operative sold dairy ingredient group Nene Valley Foods, which processes packaged cream for the food ingredient market.
