UK biscuit maker Burton’s Biscuit Co. has signed an expanded distribution agreement with Canadian food retailer Loblaw.
The UK company, which makes Cadbury biscuits under licence, said the arrangement will include mainstream lines, such as Cadbury Fingers, on top of the more seasonal Cadbury biscuit ranges currently available through Loblaws.
Steve Newiss, chief commercial officer at the Burton’s Biscuit Company, said: “The Canadian market presents a significant opportunity for the Burton’s Biscuit Company to bring much-loved British products abroad. The Cadbury brand has a unique appeal in Canada, given the country’s cultural links to the UK, so we’re optimistic we’ll be able to build further momentum in the market through Loblaws.”
The agreement is the biscuit maker’s latest deal in North America. In July it signed a deal with retail giant Wal-Mart Stores to sell its Cadbury Fingers biscuit line in the US and Mexico.
In November, Burton’s Foods changed its trading name to Burton’s Biscuit Co.
