UK firm The Bart Ingredients Co. has launched a range of barbecue rubs and sauces in its first major NPD since the company was rebranded last year.

The group, formerly known as Bart Spices, has developed a line of marinade rubs, sauces and seasoning mills under the Smokehouse Barbecue brand.

The SKUs are the first major product launch since chief executive David Collard joined the company in 2011.

Collard said: “We have designed this to be the most rounded and exciting range of authentic barbecue flavours on the market. People spend a lot on barbecued foods but our view is that there is scope to incrementally grow both the value and volume of sauces, marinades and accompaniments.”

The five rubs come with a “marinade bag” that gives consumers the option of using the rub as a dry marinade or, after adding lemon juice or olive oil, as a wet marinade.

Some of the rubs and mills will hit Waitrose shelves next week. Each of the rubs, mills and sauces will be on sale through Ocado next month.
