UK retailer Asda has recalled a batch of mayonnaise due to possible contamination with traces of metal.

The Food Standards Agency issued the alert today (6 April) on the retailer’s Ultra Light Mayonnaise 500ml and Ultra Light Squeezy Mayonnaise 450ml.

Both have a best before end of December 2009.

Asda said the batch was removed as a “precautionary measure” only and product recall notices will appear in stores to alert customers.
