Associated British Foods has moved to buy a 20% stake in UK natural cereal business Jordans.
ABF, the maker of brands including Kingsmill bread and Ryvita, declined to reveal how much it paid for the stake from the Jordan family.
“Jordans is a wonderful brand which is positioned well to benefit from the consumer’s growing desire for natural ingredients and healthy eating,” said ABF chief executive George Weston.
ABF’s grocery business, which also includes Twinings tea, has suffered in recent months due in part to rising commodity costs.
Jordans’ products range from breakfast cereals to cereal bars, muesli and oat porridge.
