Tyson Foods has appointed ex-Coca-Cola Co. executive Monica McGurk to lead its corporate strategy and new ventures unit.
McGurk most recently worked for Coca-Cola, where she was senior vice president of strategy, decision support and e-commerce for its North American arm. Prior to Coca-Cola, she spent 19 years at consulting firm McKinsey & Company, where she focused on consumer and retail sectors, founded McKinsey’s consumer innovation practice, and led its consumer organisation practice.
Under the new role of senior vice president of strategy and new ventures, McGurk will manage the Tyson’s strategic planning and growth efforts.
Her transition into the role will be assisted by current executive vice president of strategy and new ventures, Hal Carper, who will continue to develop the operational support necessary to execute the company’s growth strategy.
“Monica is a great fit for our company,” said CEO Donnie Smith. “She comes to us as the result of a long career of proven performance in strategic roles, and we believe her extensive experience will help us continue to grow as a value-added food company.”
