Turkish conglomerate Sabanci Holding is seeking advice about its shares in retailer CarrefourSA, the local venture it runs with Carrefour.

In a statement to the Istanbul Stock Exchange, the company said it had appointed a financial institution to advise it on its strategic options. Carrefour owns a 58.2% stake in CarrefourSA, with the remainder held by Sabanci.

The company gave no more information. A spokesman from Carrefour declined to comment at this stage.

In September, Sabanci issued a statement denying reports in the financial media that it was set to acquire Carrefour’s stake.

According to details on Carrefour’s website, the venture has 27 hypermarkets and 212 supermarkets across Turkey.
