US fastfood giant Burger King has reached an out of court settlement with Thai International Fast Food (TIFF) over the closure of the Burger King restaurants TIFF operated under a franchise agreement.

TIFF, an operating unit of the Central Fast Food Group, had closed 11 of its 14 Burger King outlets and since reopened four under the rival Super Burger brand. TIFF also replaced some of its Burger King outlets with Pizza Huts under a new franchise contract with Tricon Restaurants International. Burger King had termed the closures an ‘abandonment’ and breach of its franchise agreements.
Avoiding a lengthy and expensive lawsuit, the exact details of the settlement have not been disclosed. However, it is known that the settlement involved no payment.
