Spanish food group SOS has reported a net profit of €16.6m (US$21.4m) for the first nine months of 2004, an increase of 50% from the year-ago period on a pro forma basis.


Turnover was nearly a third higher at €780m while earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased 15% to €61.1m, reported Reuters.


Revenues in the company’s rice business rose nearly 150%, boosted by its takeover of American Rice on 31 December 2003.
