Grupo Apex, the Spain-based salty-snacks supplier, has snapped up local peer Productos Emilio Arias Lizano.
Ribaforada-headquartered Apex said Arias, based further south in central Spain, has a “benchmark brand” in the country’s nuts market.
Arias markets peanuts, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds, among others.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Apex already owns five factories and set out plans earlier this year to invest EUR6m (US$7.1m) across the sites by 2023.
The deal for Arias is Apex’s eighth acquisition in the last decade. Apex generates an annual turnover of EUR85m and employs more than 450 staff. The company’s existing brands include Aspitos, Popitas and Espada.
