Spanish retailer Mercadona has revealed plans to invest EUR300m (US$427.6m) in the construction of a new distribution centre.

The facility, which will be located in the suburbs of Barcelona, will have capacity for 75,000 pallets. It will supply 250 supermarkets in Catalunya and much of Aragon and La Rioja.
Construction is expected to be completed in 2014.
The move will create around 600 jobs.
