South Africa’s RCL Foods has been given the all-clear by the country’s Competition Commission to sell its facility at Bronkhorstpruit to In2Food.
The Bronkhorstspruit facility produces prepared meals, chilled cakes and dessert product lines for RCL, which has other facilities located around Gauteng and in the Western Cape.
The cost of its sale has not been disclosed.
In2Food, which already has facilities at Western Cape and Gauteng, produces goods in a wide range of food categories including ready-to-eat meals, sauces, dips and pastes, seafood, fruit and vegetable-based products, snacks and bakery items.
The company, which also has an operation in Australia, was formed out of the amalgamation of Interfruit and Lombardi Foods in 2010.
The Commission found that the proposed transaction is unlikely to result in a substantial prevention or lessening of competition in the relevant markets. It further found that the proposed transaction does not raise any public interest concerns.
