Schreiber Foods is expanding its European presence with the acquisition of three production plants from French dairy firm Senoble International.

The facilities are located in Noblejas and Talavera de la Reina in Spain, plus Zvolen in Slovakia.

The Spanish plants manufacture own-brand dairy desserts and yoghurts for local retailer Mercadona. Schreiber already supplies Mercadona with dairy products from its facility in the Canary Islands, which the US group purchased last year.

The facility in Slovakia also manufactures private0label dairy products, as well as items under its own brand, Zvolensky.

Schreiber said its "current vision" for all facilities was to continue operations with current staffing levels.

Francois Salamon, SVP of international at Schreiber, said the acquisition enabled Schreiber to "strengthen and consolidate" its European presence while "reinforcing ties" with strategic business partners.

The deal gives Schreiber ten facilities in Europe across seven countries.
