Sauer Brands, known for its condiments and seasonings, has appointed E Yuri Hermida as CEO, effective 12 March.
The Richmond, Virginia-based owner of Duke’s Mayo, said Hermida has “decades of proven experience in building and scaling consumer brands”.
His appointment was announced as private-equity firm Advent International confirmed its deal for Sauer Brands has now been completed. It was revealed last month that Advent had agreed to acquire the business from investor peer Falfurrias Capital Partners for an undisclosed sum.
Hermida most recently held the position of executive vice president and chief growth and strategy officer at US-based alcoholic drinks business Constellation Brands.
He has also served as the president of Sovos Brands, previously part of Advent’s portfolio, before being acquired by Campbell Soup Co. for $2.7bn.
Additionally, Hermida was once executive vice president of CPG group Reckitt Benckiser, where he managed the North American hygiene business.
With the Advent-Sauer Brands deal now complete, Todd Lachman, the founder and former CEO of Sovos Brands, officially becomes board chair.
“With Yuri’s deep expertise and proven track record in leading and growing multibillion-dollar brands across geographies, we will be well-positioned to catapult Sauer Brands into its next chapter of growth,” Lachman said.
Sauer Brands traces its roots back to 1887 when it was founded as The C.F. Sauer Company in Richmond. It also operates manufacturing facilities in Mauldin, South Carolina; New Century, Kansas; and San Luis Obispo, California.
In 2019, the Charlotte, North Carolina-based investment firm Falfurrias acquired the company.
