Sabra Dipping Co., the venture between PepsiCo and Israel’s Strauss Group, is set to double production capacity at its hummus making facility in Virginia to meet “growing consumer interest” in fresh dips and spreads.

The expansion will add a further 70 jobs by 2015.

The firm has also announced the appointment of Shali Shalit-Shoval as CEO to oversee the “next phase” of the company’s growth. Shalit-Shoval replaces Ronen Zohar, who has retired.

“Still a young category, fresh dips and spreads are rapidly gaining in popularity in the US, with Sabra leading the way,” said Ronen Zohar, outgoing Sabra CEO. “It is wonderful that Shali has been selected to guide Sabra into its next phase of success.”

Prior to joining joins the US dips company, Shalit-Shoval served as CEO of the JV between PepsiCo and Strauss in Israel. Most recently, she was chief marketing officer for the Sabra brand.
