X5 Retail Group, Russia’s largest retailer, has confirmed that it plans to “significantly grow” its sales and market share.


A spokesperson for X5 told just-food that the company intended to expand its share of the Russian market through both acquisitions and same-store sales growth.


“We foresee market consolidation and intend to capitalise on these trends,” the spokesperson said.


According to a Reuters report, X5 CEO Lev Khasis told the audience of Reuters Russia Investment Summit that the group intended to double its sales “every two or three years” over the next ten years.
