Ukrainian confectioner Roshen has posted a 3% increase in sales for the third quarter.

The increase for the period amounts to 255,000 tons of products sold, the company said.

Overall production of confectionery for the period exceeded the corresponding figure of 2008 by 2%, amounting to 260,000 tons.

Production in Ukrainian factories alone amounted to 186,000 tons, up 2% from the third quarter of 2008.

In July the company announced plans to build a chocolate factory in the Russian city of Lipetsk with an investment of around EUR30-50m (US$42.3-70.6m).

The company already has two Russian factories, producing hard candy, pastry and sweetmeats.
