Russia’s Dixy said today (27 July) that it remains focused on efforts to centralise the business and improve logistics.


The Moscow-based food retailer posted a 16% increase in revenue in ruble terms, with sales in the six months to 30 June rising to RUB26.75bn (US$871m), up from RUB23.1bn. However, in dollar terms, the company’s revenue dropped 16%.


Sales were lifted by the performance of Dixy’s Megamart format, which saw sales gain 34.8% to RUB2.99m. Comparable sales at Megamart were up 19.2% to RUB991m.


Retail revenue from VMart totalled RUB68m revenue from other activities, such as marketing revenue, sublease income and wholesale revenue amounted to RUB344m, Dixy said.


Commenting on the results, president Ilya Yakubson said that Dixy’s main priority during the period was the “optimisation” of logistics and the rollout of the Gold IT system at operating companies in the Centeral Federal district.

“These undertakings were executed according to schedule within a larger framework of centralisation of the company’s business processes at the HQ level. Today, the main part of these undertakings is successfully completed,” he said.


In the remainder of the year, the company will continue to rollout the new Gold IT system in stores, offices and distribution centres in the Moscow region, in Yaroslavl, and in Chelyabinsk.


The company will also continue to work on improving the centralisation of deliveries throughout the company, Yakubson added.
