Campbell Soup Co. has signed up Russian meat processor Joosten Products to produce its range of broths for the local market.

The move is the latest stage in Campbell’s bid to establish a presence in Russia, one of the world’s two largest soup markets.
The US group entered Russia last year and had been importing soup from sites across Europe.
Campbell said work had already begun on upgrading Joosten’s factory in Lubersty, close to Moscow, with local production due to begin some time this year.
“The launch of our first production unit in Russia is an extremely important step for the company’s business development,” said Campbell’s Russia supply chain manager Dmitry Soskin.
Joosten general director Serguey Perversev said the tie-up with Campbell would increase the company’s expertise.
“The co-operation with Campbell a perfect opportunity for us to use gained professional experience and knowledge to make a product which is unique for the Russian market – finished condensed bouillons with morsels of beef, chicken or mushrooms,” Perversev said.
