German retail giant Metro Group is to remodel its Cash & Carry stores in Romania.
The company currently has 14 Real hypermarkets, opened in 2006, and 23 Cash & Carry stores in the country.
Peter Ruben, a spokesperson for Metro, told just-food: “There has been a lot of emphasis on remodelling the Cash and Carry stores over the last few years. Romania is such a growing and emerging market and consumer habits are changing so fast we have to react to that.”
In December, just-food announced the creation of a compliance unit by Metro. Managing director Rainer Grunewald, managing director of the Cash & Carry unit moved to the newly-created audit and compliance division at the company’s international office.
