More of the SKUs on sale at Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Ocado were on promotion in July than a month earlier, according to the latest just-food Promo Tracker.
Almost 35% of the products on sale at Tesco were promoted last month, against 23.4% of SKUs in June, figures from mysupermarket-insights.co.uk show.

The UK’s largest retailer had over 10,600 SKUs on promotion in July, compared to 6,775 individual lines that were on discount in June.
Sainsbury’s had the next highest proportion of SKUs on sale in July, with just under 29% of lines at a discount. In June, the retailer had 20.1% of its lines on promotion.
At Asda, some 23.4% of its lines were on promotion in July, the Promo Tracker data showed, up from 19.1%.
Ocado, which this month launched its IPO on the London stock exchange, had 19.4% of its SKUs on promotion, against 10.8% in June.
The Promo Tracker data showed that Danone’s Activia brand was the most-promoted food brand in July, with 82.5% of its SKUs at a discount.
However, seven of the top ten brands most often sold at a discount were non-food lines.
Yoghurt brand Muller and Danone’s Actimel, which have been among the top four most-promoted food brands since the Promo Tracker started measuring the data in April, were the two other food brands in July’s top ten.
