Tesco, Asda and Ocado increased the number of promotions they had on offer in September, according to data from the latest just-food Promo Tracker.
Sainsbury’s was the only UK retailer of the four monitored by the tracker to run fewer promotions in September than a month earlier.

However, the data, compiled in association with mysupermarket-insights.co.uk, showed that the proportion of SKUs on sale at Tesco fell during September. The average saving per promotion at Tesco was also lower.
At Asda, the UK’s second-largest retailer, both the proportion of SKUs on offer and the average saving per promotion increased.
Meanwhile, at Ocado, while the percentage of lines on promotion increased, the saving on offer fell.
The proportion of SKUs on promotion at Sainsbury’s fell as did the average saving of its discounts.

By GlobalDataBaby food and snacks was the most-prmoted category during September, data from the tracker showed. Three of the top-ten most-promoted brands, Organix, Hipp and Plum Baby, were baby-food brands.
Organic brand Daylesford was the most-promoted brand in September, with 100% of its SKUs on offer.
