Asda, Sainsbury’s and Ocado increased the number of products they sold on promotion in March, according to the latest just-food Promo Tracker.
Data from the tracker – compiled with mysupermarket-insights.co.uk – showed that the three UK retailers all upped their promotions last month.

The biggest jump come from Sainsbury’s, which sold 7,994 SKUs on promotion in March, compared to 6,483 in February. The increase meant over a third of all SKUs at Sainsbury’s were on promotion, compared to 23.7% a month earlier.
Ocado also increased the absolute number of promotions, which pushed up the percentage of SKUs sold at a discount.
The number of promotions in Asda stores rose, although, in percentage terms, the level fell.
At Tesco, the UK’s largest grocer, the number of promotions – and the percentage of SKUs sold at a discount – were down.

Easter products was the most-promoted category, according to the data.
