Portugal-based retailer Jeronimo Martins has appointed former Unilever executive Alan Johnson as its CFO.
Johnson will replace Luís Palha who has stepped down as CFO but will remain as a member of the board of directors as an advisor to the chairman, the company said yesterday (19 December).
Johnson, 56, is expected to take up his role on 1 January and will be responsible for “monitoring the investor relations area and integrating the executive management team of the group”.
Jeronimo Martins said Johnson has a “solid professional career” in finance with “strong international experience”. He has previously held various senior finance positions within Unilever’s foods and home and personal care businesses.
From 2002 to 2004, he served as SVP of Unilever’s global ice cream and frozen foods unit, finance and IT. He most recently served as chief audit executive at Unilever.
