Pepsi-Cola General Bottlers Poland, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, will complete the modernisation of two Frito Lay plants in the Polish cities of Grodzisk Mazowiecki and Tomaszów Mazowiecki.

The move, which is in line with PepsiCo’s plans to investments in R&D and product reformulation, will allow the company to its reduce costs and its environmental impact, as well as enhance product development.

Margaret Skonieczna, external communications director of PepsiCo’s European division, said the company wants to offer consumers more innovative products this year.

“In February, we introduce new Lay’s Prosto z Pieca – the first baked potato chips on the Polish market, which contain 70% less fat than traditional fried potato chips,” Skonieczna emphasised.

Skonieczna refused to provide further details. However Polish analysts expect PepsiCo to focus NPD on “healthier” options, such as low fat varieties, this year.
