Polish private-label and branded biscuit maker Dr Gerard has been acquired by private-equity firm Bridgepoint for an undisclosed sum.
Owned by French group Poult, Dr Gerard’s core business is in cookies and chocolate products, sold in all retail formats, Bridgepoint said.
The company operates from three sites across Poland where it employs over 950 staff. In recent years, it has developed a growing export business across central and Eastern Europe.
Contacted by just-food, Poult declined to comment on the reasons for the sale.
Khai Tan, partner responsible for Bridgepoint’s activities in central and Eastern Europe, said: “With its differentiated and innovative value-for-money products, strong preferred partnership status with its trade customers and robust operational execution, [Dr Gerard] is set to consolidate its position in Poland and develop a significant international platform in the CEE.”
