PepsiCo plans to expand a Frito-Lay snacks plant in the US, with investment in the site’s production of Cheetos.
More warehousing will be added to the facility in Aberdeen in Maryland.
“We are expanding the Aberdeen, MD facility by 42,700 square feet related to two new Cheetos manufacturing lines. The 42,700 of increased square footage comes from expanding two warehouse spaces: our finished goods warehouse, which will contain our automatic storage and retrieval system; and our raw materials warehouse,” a spokesperson for PepsiCo told just-food yesterday (25 November).
Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring and end in late 2016 or early 2017, the spokesperson added.
The project is expected to add 40 new employees to the site.
Early last year, PepsiCo added another warehouse of about 160,000 square feet to the original, 360,736-square-foot building following the Aberdeen city council’s approval.
