PepsiCo is further broadening its Sunbites range in the UK with the launch of a line of nut mixes.
The US snacks giant, which already sells crispy snacks, pittas, crackers and popcorn under the Sunbites brand, pointed to data from Nielsen that showed the UK nut segment was growing at 6%.
In a statement, PepsiCo said it was aiming “to drive penetration into the segment as the appeal of the mainstream brand combined with the delicious mixes is sure to be a hit with more health-conscious shoppers”.
“It is a natural move for Sunbites to launch these exciting new nut mixes,” Thomas Barkholt, the marketing director for PepsiCo in the UK, added.
The mixes contain nuts, seeds and dried fruit. The products are available in both a 90g sharing bag – at a recommended retail price of GBP1.99 (US$2.56) – and a single 35g bag, which has a recommended price of GBP1.
In February, PepsiCo added to its Sunbites range on sale in Australia with the launch of Grainy Funbites, a line targeted at children as they returned to school after the summer holidays.
