Royal Wessanen, the Dutch food group behind brands including Kallø rice cakes and Whole Earth peanut butter, is looking to appoint Christophe Barnouin as its CEO.
Barnouin, managing director of Wessanen’s French and Italian operations, will take over from Piet Hein Merckens. Earlier this month, Wessanen said Merckens, who became CEO in 2010, would not be nominated for a second term.
The company said it will be nominating Barnouin as CEO at a shareholder meeting scheduled for the second half of January.
“I am very pleased with the nomination of Christophe Barnouin as our new CEO,” said chairman of the supervisory board, Frans Koffrie. “He has been at the company since 2006 building a strong track record in successfully managing and growing our French operations. Bjorg is the leading organic French brand nearing EUR100m (US$136m) in size, while our French operations have strongly expanded and strengthened their presence in the organic market over the years, fuelled by innovations and strong brand activation.”
Merckens remains as acting CEO until the new chief executive is appointed.
