Albert Heijn has expanded its range of products targeted to customers with food allergies, intolerances or proscribed diets in the Netherlands.

The Netherlands-based Ahold subsidiary will begin offering five new product categories including gluten-free, sugar-free, low-sodium, high-fibre and lactose free products. It has also expanded the range from less than 77 SKUs to more than 137.

Its gluten-free range will encompass some 40 products including several flour mixes, bread, bread substitutes, breakfast cereals, biscuits, pasta and snacks.

The sugar free range will grow by 23 products to reach 54 SKUs including biscuits and chocolate bars. Its low-sodium range will increase by 15 new products, the fibre-rich offer will reach 13 products and its lactose free range will include four new products.

The range will be available from 5 July in large Albert Heijn stores.
