German dairy company Muller has announced the appointment of Rob Scholte to the post of chief operating officer.
Scholte brings 28 years FMCG experience including roles at Unilever and Nestle. Most recently, he served as chief sales and supply chain officer at Metro Cash & Carry, the wholesale arm of German giant Metro Group.
Announcing the appointment, Muller said Scholte brings “extensive experience” in re-working supply chains with a “clear focus” on the needs of customers.
Muller chief executive Ronald Kers said the appointment “fits perfectly” with the group’s “vision”, which he claimed focuses on growth through innovation, brand building, operational excellence and the creation of an “international high-performance organisation”.
Muller is working to expand its business in Germany and internationally and the company recently completed the acquisition of the liquid milk business of Dairy Crest in the UK.
However, last month, the group pulled out of the US, jointly dissolving its joint venture with PepsiCo in the market. Nevertheless, at the time a spokesperson for the group told just-food that the company remains focused on profitable expansion. “We will continue to develop our business by investing for the long term in growing our existing operations and through acquisitions.”
