US manufacturer Monogram Foods has moved to expand its presence in the bacon market with the acquisition of local supplier Quality Food Processors.

Financial details were not disclosed. Privately-owned Monogram said the deal would take its revenue to more than US$1bn, although it did not break down the revenue of each business. Just Food has asked for more details.

Quality Food Processors, based in Denison in Iowa, focuses on bacon. The meat product is part of Monogram’s product range, which also takes in meat snacks, corn dogs and bakery products.

Buying Quality Food Processors will give Monogram its tenth manufacturing site across six states.

Last month, Monogram announced it is building its eleventh factory – and fourth in and around Boston.

The private-label and co-manufacturing business is setting up a facility in Haverhill in Massachusetts.

Construction is expected to be completed by the middle of next year.
