Mondelez International’s Indian unit has launched “Cadbury Joy Deliveries”, a direct-to-consumer website to build on opportunities in the corporate gifting sector.

“The new site will allow the company to build its direct-to-consumer credentials and is an opportunity for the company to foray into the e-commerce market by providing an additional channel for consumers to directly connect with the brand,” the Indian unit of the US-based snacks giant said in a statement yesterday (10 October).

Customisation, bulk orders, discounts, multiple-location deliveries and free shipping will all be available on the new platform. Mondelez India said it will partner with third parties with the expertise in “fulfilling commitments” to customers and in this case has joined with Olympia Industries.

Mondelez India’s head of e-commerce Abhishek Ahluwalia said the company had identified a “massive opportunity in the corporate gifting space”, in what it sees as the fastest-growing channel for its business.

“With Cadbury Joy Deliveries we will go beyond the contemporary and traditional occasions to create newer gifting avenues for our consumers in the corporate gifting segment,” he said. “We are focusing our investments strategically on associations that help us develop best in class sales & distribution proficiencies with strong go-to-market capabilities.”

In July, Cadbury owner Mondelez teamed up with Amazon in India to set up a virtual chocolate and sweet store.
