Mondelez International has added to its Cadbury Dairy Milk range in South Africa with the launch of the "premium" line Silk.

"Cadbury is always looking to bring excitement to the chocolate category and the addition of Cadbury Dairy Milk Silk gives chocolate lovers another reason to indulge in their favourite brand," Andrea Wright, category lead for chocolate at Mondelez's South African operations, said.

The snacks giant said the "smoother, silkier" bar is made in France. It is available for ZAR8.99 (US$0.69) for a 40g bar and for ZAR24.99 for a 105g slab.

Mondelez did not respond to a request for how the price of Silk compares to the price of other Dairy Milk lines on sale in South Africa.

However, according to the online grocery store of South African retailer Pick n Pay, a 40g bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk Bubbly can be bought for ZAR7.29. A 150g slab of Cadbury Dairy Milk can be purchased on the store at ZAR23.99.
