Mondelez International has pulled its Time Out chocolate bar in the UK and Ireland, with the snacks giant citing falling sales in recent years.
The firm has replaced Time Out with the single finger Cadbury Time Out Wafer.
The latest innovation it says features three layers of chocolate sandwiched between sheets of wafer. It contains 111 calories.
Nuria Antoja, marketing manager for Mondelez in the UK, said: “We’re seeing increasing consumer demand for lighter snacks, and Cadbury Time Out Wafer meets this need particularly well. With 111 calories, it keeps the great chocolatey taste and crispy wafer texture of Cadbury Time Out, and at a great low price point. The product has proved highly successful in our testing, and we’re confident it will be a big hit with customers and help drive category growth.”
Cadbury Time Out Wafer has a price point of EUR0.50 (US$0.55) in Ireland and GBP0.35 in the UK.
