The Macedonian Veterinary Inspectorate has temporarily banned imports of Slovenian milk due to concerns that it may contain the antibiotic chloramphenicol.

The inspectorate was particularly concerned about imports of milk from the Pomurska region of eastern Slovenia.
Two days of testing have so far failed to detect chloramphenicol in Slovenian milk samples, according to the Macedonian Veterinary Institute. The institute will continue testing samples before veterinary authorities release their ruling on whether to lift the ban or take further action. A ruling is expected on 18 November, reported the Macedonian Press Digest.
