Lactalis, the world’s largest dairy company, has resumed output at a factory in Ukraine where production had been halted amid nearby fighting.
A spokesperson for the French group said its facility in Nikolaev in the south of the country “was able to operate again today but at a slower pace”.

The privately-owned giant has three plants in Ukraine. The two other factories – in Shostka in northern Ukraine and in Pavlograd in the east – had remained open but with production limited.
Lactalis markets butter, milk, cheese and yogurt in Ukraine, with its business in the country generating around EUR100m (US$112.2m) in sales. Its plants in Ukraine also export to markets including Georgia and Moldova.
French peer Danone also said yesterday it had shut one of its two manufacturing facilities in Ukraine.
On Thursday, the day President Putin ordered an invasion of Ukraine, Nestlé said it halted the manufacturing and distribution of its products in the country, where it has three factories and 5,000 staff.
