Kraft Heinz has announced one of its divisions in India is to be sold to consumer health group Zydus Wellness.
The consumer brands division, which include the children’s milk drink Complan, along with Glucon-D, Nycil and Sampriti ghee, will be sold for INR46bn (US$625m).
The deal also includes two manufacturing facilities with approximately 900 employees associated with these brands and operations.
Bernardo Hees, chief executive officer of Kraft Heinz, said: “The sale of this niche business fits into our overall global growth strategy and our focus on investing in and growing brands within our core categories.
“India continues to be a key market for Kraft Heinz, and in fact, we’re strengthening our commitment to expand and grow our Heinz sauces and Kraft business in India.”
Zydus Wellness is the listed entity of the Zydus Cadila pharmaceutical group and operates in the fast growing Indian consumer health market.

It was reported back in August Kraft Heinz had taken the auction of a clutch of its consumer brands in India to a second round.
The transaction is expected to close in early 2019 subject to regulatory approval from the Competition Commission of India.
