US retail giant Wal-Mart, which recently acquired a controlling stake of Seiyu, has said it will install its own information system to revamp the Japanese supermarket operator’s distribution network before opening its own stores in Japan.

John Menzer, CEO of Wal-Mart’s international division, said the company would install its Retail Link information system in eight Seiyu stores on a trial basis by September, reported Nihon Keizai Shimbun.

The system is said to make production and inventory management more efficient through cooperation with Seiyu and its business partners.
