Japanese convenience store chain Circle K Sunkus Co. has opened a pilot store that focuses on selling frozen foods.

The test store, launched under the company’s 99 Ichiba banner, opened today (5 October) and will sell some 200 frozen food lines.

Sunkus opened its first 99 Ichiba store in February 2006. The company describes its 99 Ichiba outlets as “small-sized supermarkets”, selling 4,000 to 6,000 items, and focusing on fresh foods, processed foods, fast foods like boxed lunches and bread, and general merchandise.
