Japan’s Meiji Dairies Corp. and fresh dairy products manufacturer Yoplait will launch yoghurt products under a common brand from March next year.

Tokyo-based Meiji has signed a licence contract with the French group, which is jointly-owned by Sodiaal and PAI Partners.

The agreement covers the “exclusive use” of Yoplait’s brand and trademarks, “technological know-how” and dealership of products in Japan, a statement reads.

“Based on this contract, new products will be launched for sale under the common brand Meiji Yoplait,” the statement said.

Products sold under the joint brand will include fruit-flavoured yoghurt in tubes and mild yoghurt in single-serve cups.
