Japan has added another candidate to its long line of improbable ‘functional food’ chewing gums – a gum that promises to make breasts bigger.

Bust-Up gum, manufactured by Tokyo-based nutritional supplements maker B2Up, can help enhance the size, shape and tone of the breasts if chewed four or five times a day, the maker claims.

Sales have rocketed since the gum hit the shelves last month and there are now plans by the company to sell the gum in convenience stores.

The active ingredient is a derive of the Pueraria Mirifica (Kwao Krua) plant, which contains phytoestrogens a chemical that acts in a similar way to oestrogen.
